In The Hunt Training LLC was founded on the belief that training, preparation, and continuous improvement are lifelong pursuits. We believe training builds capability which builds confidence.
The name “In The Hunt” originates from a firearms training term describing a ready position: eyes over the sights or optic, actively searching and prepared to respond.
That mindset extends far beyond firearms training. At In The Hunt Training, we believe in continuously developing the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to remain capable in an unpredictable world. Whether on the range, in everyday life, or under pressure, capability is built through consistent training and deliberate practice.
Firearm ownership is both a right and a responsibility. Safe handling, sound judgment, and proficiency with a firearm are critical for armed citizens, law enforcement professionals, and anyone committed to protecting life. We view training as an investment in competence, confidence, and personal responsibility.
Our instruction is built on real-world law enforcement experience and delivered in a professional, student-focused environment. We emphasize the fundamentals that create safe, capable, and adaptable shooters while recognizing that every student learns differently. Our goal is to provide principles and skills that students can apply confidently under real-world conditions.

THE TEAM
CHRIS KELLEY
OWNER AND LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Chris is a former law enforcement officer with more than 16 years of experience in Utah. Throughout his career, he served in a variety of assignments including patrol, K-9, investigations, field training, and firearms instruction. He also served on the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force in Salt Lake City.
Chris spent 15 years on a regional SWAT team, where he served as a sniper, tactical K-9 handler, firearms instructor, and squad leader. During his law enforcement career, he gained extensive experience in firearms and tactics instruction, tactical operations planning, patrol tactics, active shooter response, use of force, and force-on-force training.
In addition to his law enforcement background, Chris continues to pursue ongoing training and skill development, including regular training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He believes consistent training builds confidence, competence, and capability both on and off the range.
Chris founded In The Hunt Training LLC to provide professional firearms instruction grounded in real-world experience while helping individuals build confidence, competence, and capability with their firearms.
